United Airlines Failing to Acknowledge Constitutional Rights

Fundamental rights should be a life vest amidst periods of uncertainty. But during one of the darkest times in modern history, United Airlines infringed upon the fundamental right to refuse unwanted medical treatment. As COVID-19 mandates began to lift and people around the world started to glimpse at what life might look like after quarantine, United began discriminating against its own employees who chose not to receive an experimental COVID-19 vaccine due to medical, religious, or other personal reasons. At a time when people needed to come together the most, this company was anything, but united.

United Airlines began targeting unvaccinated employees in a discriminatory campaign simply because these individuals chose to exercise their right to refuse unwanted medical treatment. 

Instead of supporting their employees, United claimed that its reasonable accommodation for those not outright terminated was to place them on unpaid leave. Hard working employees were left in a precarious position with the constant threat of termination looming over them, all because they forego receiving an experimental drug with unknown side effects. 

For those employees fortunate enough to keep their jobs, their right to privacy became infringed upon when United forced them to constantly wear masks – signaling to all that they were unvaccinated.

Through its discriminatory policies and actions, United has disregarded the fundamental rights and well-being of its workforce, betraying the right to privacy for employees. This fight not only aims to hold United accountable for the suffering it has caused but will also become precedent to uphold and protect the foundational principles of medical freedom and informed consent. By standing up against these injustices, this fight seeks to preserve these freedoms for current and future generations of not only United employees, but all hard-working people in America bringing dignity back to the workplace.
